I originally had a hard time putting the story of Our Lady of the Pillar into a context that made sense to me, but once Padre explained that the Pillar represents our faith in Christ it all came together.BajaMannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08874805186467347954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892257991211216961.post-37991750022000811932013-10-16T09:29:34.703-06:002013-10-16T09:29:34.703-06:00My favorite beato from the time of persecution in ...My favorite beato from the time of persecution in Mexico is Blessed (Beato) Miguel Pro. Check out his biography via google. And of course Our Lady of Guadalupe is responsible for the largest and most rapid conversion of people to Chrisianity in the history of the world.BajaMannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08874805186467347954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892257991211216961.post-13152342068257788182013-10-15T09:51:27.475-06:002013-10-15T09:51:27.475-06:00That is very interesting, and I've enjoyed you...That is very interesting, and I've enjoyed your posts on Our Lady of the Pillar festival. Yesterday, flipping through a book called In Conversation with God, I found a entry about Our Lady of the Pillar! I thought that was really cool after reading about it on your blog.Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04711448756752933218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892257991211216961.post-2926506694629813462013-10-15T00:37:21.424-06:002013-10-15T00:37:21.424-06:00The apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe was instru...The apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe was instrumental in a mass conversion of Mexican people to the Catholic faith... that's my limited understanding. The Cristero War in the 1920's was devastating to the Church in Mexico, but the Mexican people banded together and WON! I learned this from the recent film, "FOR GREATER GLORY" (Cristiada in Mexico) starring Andy Garcia. Watch it all the way to the end... to see actual photographs of the Cristeros and a disgraceful execution. I think 12 martyrs of this war are Blessed and on track for sainthood, such as the young boy, Blessed Jose. The Mexican government was first to film the execution of a priest to terrorize the clerics and citizens, but it had the opposite effect. Then they tried to ban the film and photos from being published to no avail. Well, you can research this fascinating attempt at religious persecution on the internet.
